Very attractive map of Africa. Various animals appear in Africa, seamonsters and fishes in the ocean. It was publish first 1619 by Jodocus Hondius with four decorative borders (state 1). After death of Jodocus, his son Henricus added his name and 1631 in the cartuche (state 2). Third state (this edition) removed the borders. Two other states followed. French text on reverse.
Overall some browning and age spotting in places. Centerfold cracked about 10cm at top and bottom. Removable tape on centerfold to stabilize. Otherwise fine condition.
